Durability Meets Autonomy: Sandboxing AI Agents

AI agents are increasingly expected to write code, execute commands, and solve complex problems autonomously. The challenge isn’t making them more capable—it’s making them safe and production ready.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll build an AI agent using the OpenAI Agents SDK and Temporal, learning how sandboxed execution gives agents the freedom to act safely, while durable execution ensures work survives failures, restarts, human approvals, and long-running tasks.

You’ll leave with a working application and practical patterns for building resilient, production-ready agentic systems.

Tao Guo is a Senior Staff Solutions Architect at Temporal, where he helps engineering teams build reliable distributed systems and production-ready AI applications using durable execution. Over the past decade, he has held engineering and leadership roles at Temporal, GitLab and Zendesk, with deep expertise in platform engineering, developer experience, and workflow orchestration.

Tao has worked with engineering teams at organisations including OpenAI, Netflix, Block, Stripe, ANZ, Macquarie Bank, and Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), as well as many of New Zealand’s leading enterprises. He is a regular speaker at international conferences and meetups, presenting on distributed systems, durable execution, and agentic AI. He has delivered talks and hands-on workshops across Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Shanghai, and Bengaluru.
